Kindergarten Writing Prompts

Baloo started kindergarten on Monday and so far it’s going great!!  He loves to write so we start every morning with a different writing exercise.  Typically Monday and Wednesday we do prompts, Tuesday we do a story in his story journal, and Thursday is a writing activity sheet.

I have a bunch of writing prompts all set up for July…enough to do 2 a week for the entire month (but since we’re already halfway through the month there are enough for more days!!

Since Baloo is a newer writer I have a space on top for a picture and space on bottom (no lines) for him to write his answer.

Are you on Pinterest?

If not you should be!!  Pinterest is everything that “favorites” or “bookmarks” cannot be!    It is similar to tumblr except so much better!!  I’ve described it before as a place to share really good ideas.  It’s a virtual corkboard where you pin your favorite things to share with other people!

The best part though, you can search for things (like Batman party ideas) and see what complete strangers have pinned!  I have almost all of Baloo’s 5th birthday party planned out thanks to Pinterest!!

Follow me on Pinterest to see what I’ve found!!

P.S. There seems to be a long wait to join.  If you want to join now leave me a comment with your e-mail (or shoot me an e-mail) and I will invite you!

Ocean/Beach Sensory Tub

DSC03368

This is really my first sensory tub, so I’m sure I have a lot to learn.  For instance, buy plenty of little beads or you will barely have enough to cover the bottom of the bin!!

In the bin are:
Shells from Walmart
Lauri Toys Fit-A-Space
Small blue and white beads for flowers from Walmart
Large blue glass beads from Dollar Tree
Blue and white pom poms
Ocean Toob
Melissa and Doug Magnetic Ocean Puzzle (we got ours from Micheals with a coupon!)
Blue, sea green, and green straws
Rice dyed blue with Kool Aid (tutorial to come)
Blue cups

So far they are really enjoying the bin!  Since this is the first one they aren’t completely sure what to do with it.

Helpful Tip – I put the bin on a blanket and told the boys to keep everything on the blanket.  It prevented a huge mess of little beads all over the house!
