Out door Learning – Sight Words

It has cooled off considerably down south so we are finally getting out more and having a lot more fun outside!  Baloo has been encountering more sight words that he doesn’t know lately so I’m trying to incorporate them more into other activities we do!

We tried a sight word relay race.  I wrote down his sight words of the week in chalk…

And of course made a start/finish line!  I told Baloo to get set (and he did!) and then called out a word for him to run to!

He would run and jump on the word, and then run back to the finish line until we did all the words!  After that I had him throw a rock, run to it, and then read whichever word he was closest to.

Baloo had a blast running around so much (and then making ME run around too!) and it definitely helped him solidify some of his sight words!
