Water Bottle Target Practice – Water Play Wednesday

Baloo was sick a few weeks ago and we had bought him some Gatorade in those need bottles with the squeeze top.  Those are a treat in our house!  I saved the bottles because I knew we could use them for something fun!

I set up 2 hula hoops around 5 feet apart and told Royal and Baloo to choose one to stand in.  Then I gave them the Gatorade bottles full of water and told them to try to shoot their water into the other person’s hula hoop!

One rule was that they had to keep both feet inside the hula hoop.  I caught someone cheating!

I probably could have moved the hoops closer to each other.  It was a bit too far for Royal.  He certainly tried though!

Royal didn’t really get into the groove of it until Baloo had already emptied his bottle and run off to refill.  So I may or may not have helped Royal sneak up on Baloo and dump his whole bottle on him!

Guess it was bad timing because Baloo had a FULL water bottle right there.  Oops!  Well, at least they were cooling off on a hot day!

This was a great and simple way to cool off on a hot afternoon!  And it got the boys out running around!

Waterplay Wednesday – Balancing Water Buckets

After last week I decided to enlist Baloo to help me think of some water games. He was very excited to be a part of the planning process!!  He first started by saying something about using the hose to spray everyone, but knowing his little brothers, I knew that would NOT be popular.  His next idea was filling up the water buckets and balancing them…and I interjected with ‘on your heads!’ instead of whatever he had up his sleeve (it wasn’t good, I could tell!)

So we went ahead and gave it a shot!!  I had Baloo fill up 3 buckets – one for he and Royal and a small one for Logi-Bear)

He was eager to give it a shot! He wasn’t able to balance it for long and it quickly came crashing down resulting in a cracked bucket.

Which meant the next time he tried there was water everywhere!!  He really seemed to like that though.

He did manage to balance it for a moment!  A quick moment!

Royal was excited to give it a shot too!  I had to dump most of his water out just so he could hold the bucket.

My boys really enjoy the water play games we try!!  I hope your little ones enjoy the games too!

Waterplay Wednesday – Water Dumping Race

I typically try to steer clear of races between Royal and Baloo, if only because Baloo has nearly 3 years on Royal and is just more capable.  However, for this one I thought Royal’s cautiousness might help him out in the end!

I started by setting up 2 lines of containers – all of various sizes.  The last bucket had a bit of water in it.

I told them the goal was to pour the water into each container one at a time until they got to the end…

To my surprise, once I gave them the “ready, set, go” they both set right off!

Baloo was dumping quickly and spilling a good bit of water!

Royal was taking his time.  He actually misunderstood me a bit and put a bit of water into each container.

Baloo just kept on going until he had his water at the end!

I let Royal measure to see who won – and in the end it was Baloo since Royal never really finished!!  They really had a great time running back and forth and splashing water everywhere tough!  Logi-Bear even had fun watching them and then dumping the buckets over!
