Christmas Color by Reducing Fractions
Today Royal (the 8-year-old) said fractions are his favorite thing in the entire world. We’re taking him to the doctor tomorrow (We contemplated urgent care but we had brownies in the dinner).
For the rest of us who don’t think fractions are all that amazing, a bit of practice with reducing them is always a good idea! And the only way to practice reducing fractions is with a fun printable. Especially a fun Christmas printable.
This printable is part of the 5 Days of Christmas printables week! Make sure to check on all the other great Christmas printables this week, and stop by 3Dinosaurs.com and JDaniel4sMom.com for more!
How to Set Up the Christmas Reducing Fractions Printable
These are pretty much no prep printables. Just print and go!
Two of the picture feature four main fractions (1/2, 1/3, 1/4, and 1/1). One of them also includes 2/3 and 3/4. So check and make sure to get the printable at the difficulty level you desire!
This set includes 3 different Christmasy pictures! So you can do each one and get a lot of practice or just do one!
How to Use the Christmas Reducing Fractions Printable
We started by identifying the fractions in the picture and how to reduce fractions.
Then it was a matter of going through each fraction and reducing it to it’s lowest form. Some of them are easy to tell apart (4/4 and 8/8 obviously reduce to 1/1) but some of them get trickier.
I’ve also resorted to telling them that one section doesn’t match the color you think it would be (that way they have to check every fraction and can’t cheat by just knowing what the picture is)
These color by code puzzles are a fun way to practice these skills. Practicing reducing fractions is a lot easier when it’s fun work!
