If you’re like me, you didn’t even think about Father’s Day until the very last minute. Which is why this year Daddy is getting some homemade presents from the boys! That’s what the day is all about anyway, right?
We whipped up some salt dough (recipe to follow) and decided to make candy bowls (ahem,
ashtrays). I simply gave the boys a ball of dough and let them go at it…then I realized they needed help with the bowl part and I shaped it for them. But then I let them decorate as they wanted! They both used little dinosaur figures to make footprints.
We baked them at 200 degrees pretty much all day…
We still had some dough left so I wanted to do something else. I used food coloring to dye the dough red, green, blue, and yellow. Then I rolled it up into a bunch of little balls. The boys and I pushed our thumbprints into them.
Again, we baking at 200 for a few hours, and this is what we got:
Salt Dough Recipe:
2 cups flour (all purpose preferred)
1 cup salt
1 cup water
Mix all ingredients together. Form dough as wanted. Cook at 200 degrees F until cooked through. You can also just leave it out to dry.
