Roll a Silly Pirate Sentence – Reading and Writing Fun
We are always up for a round of silly sentences. You never know what kind of sentence you will get which makes it all the more fun. This pirate series even includes the Poop Deck (which is sure to elicit laughs, at least in my family).
It’s always nice to have an activity we can enjoy as a family and the silly sentences have yet to disappoint!

It is Pirate Week at Royal Baloo! I’ve teemed up with Cassie from 3Dinosaurs.com and Deidre from JDaniel4sMom to bring you a week full of pirate fun!
There will be a fun bonus for e-mail subscribers – don’t miss it!

Setting Up the Pirate Silly Sentences
The only setup necessary for the silly sentences is putting the dice together. And the neat thing is, the more you do it the easier it gets. I think I might be a pro at constructing paper dice by now.
You might consider adding this pirate telescope to your game to make it a bit more silly and a bit more fun.
If you’re planning to use this multiple times or with multiple kids, I recommend printing on cardstock and using a hot glue gun to put them together. They are much sturdier that way and last a lot longer.
We just print the mat on regular paper and it really gets destroyed before the dice.

How to Use the Pirate Silly Sentences
There are so many ways to use these printables depending on what you want to work on. The most direct way is to just roll the dice and make a sentence (and maybe laugh?).
If you’d like to work on writing, grab some paper and write the sentence down. You can even illustrate each sentence. Or use the sentence as a story starter.
If you’re working on grammar, try to pick out the nouns, verbs, adjectives, etc.
You might be able to pick out new vocabulary works and learn about them. For instance, which part of the ship is the poop deck? What exactly is a ruffian?
