Last year, a lot of our curriculum was bought in the form of PDFs. It’s less expensive that way, and it can travel with us. I thought a PDF curriculum would be just fine.
But we ended up not doing most of it. The fact that it was on the computer meant it was out of sight, out of mind.
So when I heard of The Homeschool Printing Company, I was pretty excited. I knew I could print of PDFs without paying a ton of money.
Why I am So Excited About Printing PDFs:
I’ve never printed a large ebook before using the Homeschool Printing Company. The idea of using that much ink and paper frightened me away.
But I am a “book in hand” kind of girl. I love the idea of ebooks but I have trouble using them. Even for reading. I also take notes in a notebook and not online.
So I was excited to get the curriculum printed and in my hands. It’s made my planning that much easier and my kids have enjoyed being able to see ahead in their work.
Turnaround time was also an important factor for me. Since I ordered over the summer the turnaround was really quick. From estimate to delivery, it was about a week. These people are on top of their game.
I’ve been told that their busy season is coming so it might take a bit longer. But they will tell anyone on their estimate how long shipping will take.
Saving Money on Printing Costs
It can be hard to see how much printing really costs when you’re printing one or two pages here and there. But printing out larger PDFs can get expensive. I had one PDF printed that was 250 pages and it only cost $20.
How are they keeping costs down?
They’ve chosen to often basics that homeschoolers often need – basic color and black and white printing, binding, single page lamination, and hole punching. By focusing on these less expensive and more needed products, they can charge less while still offering great quality.
They’re also a small business (not a division of a huge company). In fact, the company is run by a veteran homeschooling family!
