Sharks are a big deal in our house.  I’m not sure if it’s because they are scary or because they are big ocean animals.  But there is definitely an interest level there!  I figured some shark math puzzles would get used pretty quickly (and I was totally right)

How to Prep the Shark Addition Puzzles

For durability’s sake, I’d recommend printing on card stock or laminating (or both, honestly).  I haven’t had much luck printing puzzles like this on regular paper.

Cut out the sharks on the solid black line and then cut the puzzle line in the middle.  Make sure not to cut where the shark’s lower fin is located.

How to Use the Shark Math Puzzles for Kids

There are a total of 12 puzzles.  Each sum has 2 versions (so there are two shark puzzles for 9, two for 10, etc).  Both puzzles that add up to 9 are the same shape, so they will fit both ways.

Simply hand over the puzzle and ask your child to complete them.  Matching them heads to tails should be fairly intuitive.

Mix up all 12 puzzles for a bigger challenge.
