Learning to Read with Star Wars Easy Reader
Logi-Bear loves Star Wars so much that he talked me into buying him this Star Wars Phonics set. It’s not great but he’s highly motivated to practice reading them. So not all bad, right? I think it’s meant for kids a bit further along in their reading.
Either way, I wanted to put together an easy reader for Star Wars that would focus more on something his level! We decide to tackle r controlled vowels. Incidentally ‘star’ has a r controlled vowel but ‘war’ does not. I guess I didn’t realize that r doesn’t always control the vowel before it!
This is the last day of my Star Wars series -but don’t worry, my Winter series with Cassie begins tomorrow! Check back for a full week of fun winter printables! To stay up to date, the newsletter is your best bet!
What’s Included with the Star Wars Easy Reader
This set is not just the easy reader but also 2 pages of sight word practice. One page includes a word search and a place to write some sentences featuring the r controlled vowels!
The second page features dot marker words and a place to fill in the word and complete the sentence.
Both pages are pretty basic and just meant to act as a supplement to the easy reader book!
What Wars? is essentially a book in which someone misheard “Star Wars” and cannot figure out that first word. They go through a lot of options including r controlled vowels before finally figuring out it’s Star Wars.
Naturally it’s a bit silly, such as the page that asks if it’s Shark Wars.
This is the word search page. There are only 5 words in the word search to keep it nice and simple!
