Transportation Skip Counting Puzzles for Hands On Math
I love puzzles and I was always one of those people who loved having a puzzle on the table to work on little by little. Somehow over the years, we’ve gotten out of the habit of puzzle solving. We don’t even really do many puzzles with the kids, which makes me sad. I think there is a lot of spatial reasoning to learn from puzzles. These transportation skip counting puzzles won’t help with spatial reasoning, but they are fun like regular puzzles! And maybe they will jump start their own love for puzzles.

How to Set Up the Transportation Skip Counting Puzzles
I’ve made puzzles like this in the past for younger kids where I cut it all out first and the picture is more obvious. I wanted this to be a bit more of a challenge so I scrambled the picture and didn’t cut it out for them.
No real prep is necessary! You can provide glue and a piece of construction paper so they can glue down their masterpiece!
If you want to use this over and over, you can laminate it first!
How to Use the Transportation Skip Counting Puzzles
Let them cut them out the pieces and put them in order by skip counting.
Once the puzzle is complete, they can self check that it’s correct! If there is an image, they got it right!
If they want, they can glue it down and keep the picture. Otherwise, pack it up for puzzle making on another day!
