Learning to Read with Buggy CVC Short U Word Sort
Today is day 3 of buggy week with Deidre and Cassie! Don’t miss any of the great printables this week (or sign up for the emails and I’ll send you the complete list!)
Setting Up the CVC Short U Word Sort
We laminated ours because I think we will use them a few times, but it’s probably not necessary. It just depends on how much and how long you thing you will use them!
Set up really just consists of cutting them out. It’s a fairly simple set up this time around!
Using the Buggy CVC Short U Word Sort
There are multiple ways to use this printable. The most basic would be to simply sort the words. Pick a bug at random, read the word, and determine which jar it belongs with. We like to think of putting them into their families.
You could also turn it into a game. Find a net or bug swatter and catch the bugs and then read them.
You could play rhyming memory. Shuffle the cards and put them face down. There are 6 words for each word family so there should be 3 matches each.
Bottom line – you can play with these cards and jars in multiple ways! Just have fun with it and let them enjoy practicing reading!
