Tot School – B, brown, and circles
Royal is 29.5 months
We went ahead and did B again this week since last week was such a bust. Royal actually did something with most of the sheets from the B is for Ball tot printables at 1+1+1=1 but I only got pictures of him working on this one (2 separate times!). Sometimes he is in the mood for the sheets and other times he isn’t so I let him do what he wants!
I asked him to connect the balls…and he did!! Of course I meant within the lines of the B, but I can’t fault him for following my non-specific instructions!
For our kid-friendly recipe this week we made cookie dough balls! We used this Egg free, no bake dough recipe. And I cut the recipe in half and split it between the boys. And we used butter instead of margarine because we don’t do margarine!
Royal dumped in some of the ingredients.
And after I rolled them into balls, he ate them!
He glued down the brown pictures on our brown sheet (download here!) and we talked about all the brown things.
I gave both boys half of a toilet paper roll and a plate with brown paint with the intention that they would make some circle art. Royal did it for a bit, but they both ended up squishing the rolls and got paint everywhere.
He did think it was fun to look through the roll!
We used the dot paints for a bit, but Royal spent a lot more time putting them in a line! He rearranged the line a few times. I figured it was good for his motor skills!
I put out a tray with rice, 2 little plastic cups, and a spoon and let Royal go at it! He used the spoon a bit…
And he just kind of played around with the rice. If nothing else it was a good sensory experience!
We go on walks every evening, and Baloo is often distracted with some of our older neighbor kids. Royal just doesn’t keep up with them as well so we get some outdoor time to ourselves. Lately we’ve been collecting acorns! I finally brought them inside to see what fun we could have!
I tried to get the boys to sort them based on size. We have some very small ones and some rather large ones.
But it wasn’t long before we were distracted. We had to find out what was inside the acorns! And the answer is – a very soft nut! The boys were thrilled!! We must have cracked open a dozen before putting them outside for the squirrels (who did not take any of the nuts!)
We traced our hands for a science project and since then Royal has been tracing his hand at every opportunity. Maybe it’s the next step in his drawing ability…?
That’s it for us this week! We will be linking up at:
I am hitting my acorn week too and hoping that my 23 month old is just satisfied with taking the caps off and doesn’t figure out how to open them completely up until the end of the week =)
Looks like a great week! I love your comment on the toilet paper art project – it seems like our art projects alway differ from the intention a bit too!
Just visiting from Tot School. Love the acorn fun. Isn’t it great how the little things are the best things!! =-) I am also a homeschooling Mom of kids ages 1,3,6 – if you want to check out my ideas too at http://www.livinglifeintentionally.blogspot.com
Great activities and I love that you don’t push them to do it the “right” way if they choose to do something else.
Sounds like a fun week! I might have to let my little boy have a go at the fake cookie dough project. He’d get such a kick out of that.
nice that you gave it another try. At a young age it is all about their mood. Love how you go with it, adjust and let him enjoy what he is doing. Wonderful!
Thanks for linking to last wee’s Sunday Showcase! Can’t wait to see what you have in store to share with us this week!
