Unicorn Arty Planner – Homeschool Planners for Creative Planning
It’s that time of year – back to school planning time. Who am I kidding, it’s always school planning time if you enjoy planning. Am I the only one who enjoys laying out extensive plans and then doesn’t feel like putting them into action?
I hope I am alone in that, but I feel like I’m probably not. Which is why I made a planner that I enjoyed opening every day.
Introducing the Arty Planner
Theree are many many types of planners but a new-ish form of planning is entering the scene. Bullet journaling.
Bullet journaling is the brainchild of Ryder Carroll and it’s a very simple system to track your time. The bare-bones method is meant to keep people on task in a system that is very user-friendly.
Over the years people have taken bullet journaling and added art. But they still call it bullet journaling.
I think bullet journaling with art is a totally different concept. Bullet journaling is simple and fast.
Bullet journaling with art is simple planning with a lot of fun art thrown in.
So I call it Arty Planning.
Arty planning involves simple time management and tracking but with a fun flourish added in. It might be color, fun writing, doodles, etc.
How is Arty Planning different from regular planning?
Most planners include a few base layouts – month, week, day, etc.
And those are great and work really well. Except, I get bored of them. After a few weeks, it’s the same pages over and over. So I stop using them!
And a planner that isn’t used is useless.
An Arty Planner keeps me engaged week after week. It’s also a great way to get some creativity and color into my day.
So at the core, they’re not different. Arty Planning and regular planning are both just planning systems. But arty planning adds in creativity.
How do I set up my Arty Planner?
The arty planner pages currently come in A5 size. You can bring them 2 to a page on either letter sized or A4 sized paper.
I used sticker paper to print on. Then I was able to add the pages to my current bullet journal without having to start a completely new journal. Plus, I can add a different theme next month, if I get bored!
You can also print them out, use a small hole punch, and add them to a mini binder.
What are the pages in the unicorn arty planner?
I wanted to share most of the layouts in the unicorn theme so you know exactly what you’ll be getting! Or if you’d rather just draw them into your bullet journal yourself, then you can see them in full here!
Year spread #1. It includes one page for the rest of 2018 and another page for the first 6 months of 2019. Enough space to write important dates to remember, birthdays, vacations, etc
Attendance and curriculum trackers.
If you need to track your attendance, this handy page has a box for every day of the school year. Just check off the box. You can even shade out weekends or vacation days ahead of time.
The curriculum tracker is great for keeping tabs on where you are! Each curriculum space has 50 boxes. Use as many or few as you need.
Reading log and movie/documentary log.
Track what you’ve read and watched with these handy logs. Includes a space to track your personal rating!
Month cover and goals page.
The month cover is just a fun way to mark the beginning of the month.
The goals page includes 4 spaces for writing goals and then bullet points for writing actionable steps for those goals.
Monthly spread.
There are 3 monthly spreads, but only one shown here. Each includes the entire month and a few places to add your own categories. I like to have a space for important dates, notes, and general to do list.
Weekly spread 1.
There are 4 weekly spreads included. Each spread has room for writing in every day of the week. Plus there are more categories, a habit tracker, and the month at a glance.
Weekly spread 2
This one also includes a menu planner (You could use one of the category boxes for menu planning on other weeks!)
Daily spreads.
There are 5 daily spreads (and each can be customized for any day of the week). They include space to organize by child, by subject, or however you’d like to organize! There is also room for extra categories.
