Valentines Day Skip Counting Dot to Dot

I’m loving these Valentines Day skip counting worksheets. I love that Valentines is a day about happiness and love. Yes, it’s also a highly commercialized holiday. But it’s also easy to skip out on all of the buying of things – except candy.

I feel like it’s a time to show people around you that you care for them. And that makes me happy.

So I also love getting to bring some aspects of that into our homeschool. It makes for a lovely Valentines week.

These skip counting worksheets are a great way to introduce some Valentine fun into your Valentine week!

How to Use the Skip Counting Dot to Dot

My favorite way to use these skip counting dot to dot pages is as a fun review. Most kids are familiar with dot to dot pages so it’s easy to just give them the page and let them work on it independently.

I do like to point out that it’s a skip counting dot to dot and how much they are skip counting by.

For kids that do need instructions:

  • Start by identifying how much you are skip counting by (2s, 3s, 5s, 10s, 100s)
  • Find the lowest number on the page.
  • Draw a line from that number to the next number when skip counting (2 to 4, 4 to 6, etc)
  • Keep connecting the dots until you finish the picture
  • Now color your completed picture

Benefits of Skip Counting Connect the Dots

Skip counting is an important skill to cover. It sets kids up for addition and multiplication later. Skip counting by 5s is important for reading an analog clock. And skip counting by 10s helps kids see the patterns in numbers.

And I think skip counting is a skill that is best picked up by practice and repetition. The more it is used, the better it will be remembered.

So I love having pages like dot to dots where they can just practice their skip counting. It’s not an activity that will take a long time but it is great for repetition.
