Shamrock Dominos

Dominos are one of my favorite math tools.  The kids get excited to use them and there are so many fun ways to use them.  But what is better than themed dominos?  Nothing, right?

I ran out of green cardstock, so yellow it was.  In hindsight, white would have been better.  Oh well!  I was thinking it would look like gold coins, but not so much.

Naturally we used them for just plain old dominos.  I like to play this with Logi Bear to work on recognizing groups of numbers.  But the older boys play too because dominos are too much fun.

But there are so many other ways to use dominos.  We didn’t do much with them today, but I did print out this sheet from my St Patricks Day No Prep First Grade Math pack.  It uses the doubles dominos, and then has them add one.  This is a skill used to expand on memorizing doubles.  Royal knows his doubles up to like 6 or 7 so this was good to help him use that information to make other facts easier.
