The Gruffalo Rhyming Tic-Tac-Toe–Virtual Book Club for Kids
The Gruffalo is possibly one of our favorite books. The boys love the story line and I enjoy the easy rhyming rhymes. All in all, it’s a really fun book.
I wanted to create a rhyming game with the rhyming words in The Gruffalo, and came up with Rhyming Tic Tac Toe! Royal and I played this together and had a good bit of fun.
First I had Royal just play by himself to get used to the rhymes. I put the words in our education cube (I’ve attached printables at the end, if you’d like to play!) and provided gems to cover the game board.
Royal would throw the cube and thinking of words that rhyme with his roll. Then we would look on the page and see what rhymes were there.
Then Royal and I played together. He wanted to be pink and I was blue. We took turns rolling and tried to be the first to get a tic tac toe!
You can see Royal won here (the star is a free space).
