Tot School – 2/21
Royal is 22 months
I’m going to say it…we’ve had an awesome week. Royal is participating in school stuff more and more, and we’re just having so much fun with it.
He was really excited about the Car’s cards we printed out from the Car’s tot book at 1+1+1=1! He flipped through them a few times and showed them off to everyone. ![]()
With a bit of assistance he matched up our cars to the cards. ![]()
And then he and Baloo lined them up and counted them.

Another day I got out 3 pots with matching lids and let him try to match them. After he got the first one the other two were easy. He did enjoy seeing how they would all fit if you mixed them up though.
Then I hid 1 car (from the movie Cars) in each of the pots and using Car’s cards I had him find one of the cars.
Then we matched the cars to the cards again.
We got out the color book I sewed for Royal last year. He’s really starting to be interested in colors…and naturally purple is his favorite! ![]()
He has played with our latches board non-stop all week. He can now open most of them by himself!
Legos have been a real hit too! He’s spent a lot of time putting together all kinds of contraptions. Towers seem to be his favorite though.
And of course a lot of outside time. He doesn’t quite get the magnifying glass, but big brother has one so it MUST be cool!
We’re also getting in the habit of taking toys outside and just hanging out in the sun! Royal was fairly interested in this shape puzzle. ![]()
Baloo found this craft he did awhile back and wanted to give it to Royal, so we laminated them! Royal LOVES the cat and pig the most!
We practiced our colors and counting with this Melissa and Doug stacker board. ![]()
While Baloo was working with the tangram-esque cards Royal wanted in on the action.

He helped Baloo tape up his vocab cards on our easel. By the end of the week he could point out zebra, zoo, and zipper.
We played with shaving cream. This was a BIG mess but they had so much fun. I made some drawings and a few letter Z’s for Royal.
Another big hit this week was our locks and keys. Royal had a really hard time with matching up the keys AND getting them to work, so I usually helped him get the right key. Once he knew what was supposed to happen it was a bit easier though.
Royal has become a real handful during Baloo’s school time so I’m trying to find something for him to exert his energy on. We printed this letter sheet from Homeschool Creations.
Royal also found Baloo’s school book and was very interested in his old letter crafts. He flipped through these the entire time I was making dinner! ![]()
I’m excited to start doing letter crafts with him…but I’m thinking I’ll wait until after the summer.
That’s all for us this week! Check out 1+1+1=1 for many more great tot school ideas!!

Popping through from the tot school link up. My son is a month younger than yours, and I love the ideas of things to do with him. Looks like you have lots of fun with your boys.
